Biography

Lianghua Gong was born in 1983 in XinYu, (Republic of China). From 2001 to 2005 he attended the GuangXi Art College, majoring in singing. After studying the German language, he enrolled in the vocal studies program at the University of the Arts in Berlin, under the guidance of Prof. Robert Gambill, in 2007. Since 2008 he has been a scholarship holder of the Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft e.V. in Berlin.
 
In 2022 and 2023 he sang as a guest at the Theater Bielefeld. There he took take on the role of Brighella in R. Stauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Triquet in Eugene Onegin, and once again performed as Il conte in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Opera Gdansk.
 
In April 2021 Gong participated in the film production of Don Giovanni by Grand Opera Avignon, portraying the role of Don Ottavio. During the summer, he took on the title role of Don Ramiro in Cenerentola at the Immling Festival.
 
From 2019 to 2021, Lianghua Gong was invited by Opera Gdansk (Poland) as Carlino in Bucefalo, Il conte Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles.
 
From 2012 ro 2019 Lianghua was as ensemble member at the Theater Bielefeld, where he showcased his versality in singing roles from baroque to moders, including the High Priest in Händel’ Saul, Don Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Dorvil in Rossini’s La scala di seta, Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute and Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore.
 
From September 2016 to March 2017 Lianghua Gong toured as Marquis von Chateauneuf from Zar und Zimmermann with Landestheater Detmold, spanning from Germany to Switzerland.
 
From 2011 onwards, he was frequently engaged as a young talent by the Musikverein Graz. There he performed roles, such as Edoardo in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio with L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Peppe in Donizetti’s Rita (Director Peter Patzak), and in 2012 he performed Mozart’s Requiem with Maestro Adam Fischer and Graz Philharmoniker.
 
In 2009, he began his engagement with the role of Physician in The Fall of the House of Usher by Philip Glass at the New Palace of Sanssouci Potsdam, directed by Achim Freyer and conducted by Michael Sanderling. One month later he celebrated his first major engagement at the National Opera Athens portraying The Duke Bertrando in Rossini’s L'inganno felice. In January 2010 he had the pleasure of performing his solo concert with the Berlin Symphoniker at the Berlin Philharmonie (Zentralsaal).
 
Lianghua Gong has received numerous awards, initially in the field of pop singing and later in classical singing. This includes winning the 1st prize in the solo concert at the 2004 Yiyuan Bei competition in Nanning, as well as the 1st prize at the International Singing Competition Klassik-Mania 2010 in Vienna.
