October brings an exciting array of performances for our artists, spanning grand opera premieres, concert appearances, and international collaborations.
The month opened on October 4 at the Staatstheater Darmstadt with Verdi’s Aida — a new production directed by Noa Naamat, featuring Irina Ignata as Amneris. The production continues with performances on October 18, November 9 and 28, and into December and February.
At the Landestheater Detmold, tenor Jonah Spungin begins rehearsals for Puccini’s La fanciulla del West on October 8, followed by additional work in Gutersloh in mid-November.
In France, Lianghua Gong performs Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Grand Opéra Avignon, with performances on October 10, 12, and 14.
A major highlight in Denmark this month is Verdi’s La Traviata at the Danish National Opera, opening on October 10 and continuing with performances throughout October and November. Five Ascolta Artists take part: Frederikke Kampmann and Sofie Lund share the role of Violetta, Anders Kampmann sings Alfredo, while Teit Kanstrup and Hrolfur Sæmundsson alternate as Germont.
In Sweden, Conny Thimander appears in Primadonna at the Royal Swedish Opera with performances on October 11, 15, and 18, and continuing through November and December.
Meanwhile in Germany, Louise McClelland performs Barbarina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Bayerische Staatsoper München on October 12 and 14.
Also on October 12, Trine Møller and Francine Vis take the stage of the Royal Danish Opera as Santuzza and Lola in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, running through November 14.
The concert season is equally rich this month. On October 23, Louise McClelland and Sidsel Eriksen perform Rued Langgaard’s Sfærenes Musik with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen, while on the same date, Frederikke Kampmann, Anders Kampmann, and Steffen Bruun join the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for Carl Nielsen’s Hymnus Amoris and Fynsk Forår.
The following day, October 24, McClelland appears again — this time with the Odense Symphony Orchestra in a concert featuring music by Kirstine Lindemann.
Toward the end of the month, Aylin Sezer performs Anitra’s Solo from Grieg’s Peer Gynt at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam on October 24–26, and Gabriele Mangione sings Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème at the Vanemuine Theatre in Estonia on October 29.
The month closes with Sidsel Eriksen and Simon Duus starring in Carmen at the Helsingør Kammeropera on October 30, followed by Cláudia Ribas as Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Oper Frankfurt on October 30 as well.
October has been a month of artistic vitality and international presence — from Verdi to Mozart, Puccini to Nielsen — celebrating the dedication, creativity, and excellence of our artists across Europe and beyond.
