Sidsel Eriksen is a Danish mezzo soprano, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. She studied with Ingrid Haking Raaby, Bodil Øland and Rosemary Joshua at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, and Dutch National Opera Academy, Amsterdam. She finished her post graduate diploma in 2018.
Her recent and future engagements include Tintomara (Tintomara) at Läckö Castle, Bevidstheden (Manualen by L. Alenius) at The Royal Opera in Copenhagen, Græsset er Grønnere at Funen Opera, Christmas Oratorio with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and participation in Copenhagen Opera Festival.
During recent seasons she did Blomsterdreng and Pernille (as cover) at The Royal Danish Opera in Nielsen’s Maskerade, sang Operakarusellen at Opera I Midten, Tisbe in Cenerentola at Fuenen Opera, Gala concert at Danish National Opera, and did the recording of Horneman’s Aladdin with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She also sang role of Annemarie in John Frandsen’s world premiere The Year of the Beast (Dyrets år) at Aarhus Sommeropera in 2021.
During her time at DNOA she played the parts of Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Ruggiero in Händel’s Alcina. Sidsel played the part of Adza in Chabrier’s L’Étoile at Dutch National Opera in 2014, and was in the young talent ensemble of Händel’s Ariodante the following season.
In Denmark she was part of Aarhus Summer Opera’s performance of Darwin by Marthinsen in 2017, she played Lucy and Susanne in two children´s operas by Lars Fjeldmose with the company Operaen i Midten in 2018 and 2019 and she was a swing and understudy (Madam Giry) in Phantom of the Opera at The New Theatre in Copenhagen in 2018/19.
Sidsel has sung the alto parts in Händel’s Messiah, Bach’s B-minor Mass and Mozart’s Coronation Mass among many others.
