Biography

Lithuanian soprano Aistė Piliba graduated from Lithuanian Academy of Music and theatre in 2015 (Master‘s degree). During her studies, she went on an internship under the Erasmus exchange program to the Vienna University of Music and Arts. After she has returned to complete the studies in Lithuania she immediately entered the internship program.
 
In 2016 Aistė won the prize Opera hope of the year for the role of Musetta in La boheme and Frasquita in Carmen. She won the Lithuanian Opera Award as the best opera soloist of the year 2018 for the roles of Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Ilia in Idomeneo.
  
Her recent engagements include Micaēla (Carmen), Mimì (La bohème), Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Ilia (Idomeneo) and Susanna (Le nozze de Figaro). She made her first international opera debut in 2024 as Tatyana (Eugene Onegin) in Finnish National Opera. The same year she sang Dido (Purcell’d Dido and Aeneas) at the LNOBT Open Festival in Lithuania.  
 
Aistė also appeared in operettas as Valencienne (Merry Widow), Pepi Pleininger (Wiener Blut), in Raminta Šerkšnytė's children's opera as Mrs. Ben (The Five Wonders of Mary) and in Rita Mačiliūnaitė‘s ballet-opera as Muse (Forever And a Day). The soloist also participated in the performances of the Vilnius City Opera, where she performed Musetta and Mimi (La bohème), Nedda (Pagliacci), Micaēla (Bizet / Adomaitis‘ electronic opera Carmen).
 
Aistė was repeatedly recognized not only in Lithuania, but also internationally – in 2013, while still a student, she was among the 19 semifinalists in the Neue-Stimmen competition in Germany and she was the finalist and won the public prize in the Antonín Dvořák‘s Singing Competition, Grand Prix in competition-festival Le Strade d'Europa.
 
The singer performs not only on opera stages but is invited to sing all over Lithuania with pianists, instrumental ensembles and orchestras such as the Saint Christopher Chamber Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Vilnius State Quartet, the M.K. Čiurlionis Quartet, the Musica Humana Chamber Ensemble, performing chamber and sacred music programs.
 
Aistė has got an award of Lihuanian Musicians‘ Union Golden Disc Laureate in 2023.
