Korean Soprano Celine Mun is an alumna of Yonsei University and MDW (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna). Under the tutelage of KS Krassimira Stoyanova and KS Daniela Fally, she honed her vocal prowess.
In the 2023/24 season, Celine Mun enraptured audiences as a soprano soloist in Händel’s Factory by J.Harneit at Staatsoper Hamburg. In the 2022/23 season, she marked her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper as Blumenmädchen in Parsifal. Her burgeoning career includes notable lead performances in Europe and South Korea, embodying roles such as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Musetta in La Bohème, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte and Gilda in Rigoletto. Mun has graced the stages of Wiener Konzerthaus and Musikverein Wien.
In 2024/25 season, Mun is scheduled to return to the stage of the Wiener Staatsoper.
Mun was a member of Atelier Lyrique in Verbier Festival, Switzerland in 2022. Her repertoire encompassed song recitals, concerts, and a performance in the opera Hänsel und Gretel. Her exceptional talent was recognized with the prestigious Thierry Mermod Prize, a testament to her promising future as a young opera singer. Recently, Mun had the privilege of participating in the Opera for Peace Academy, where she performed in concerts in Rome and Paris.
With an expansive repertoire, Mun has triumphed in competitions across South Korea, Europe, and the U.S.A., securing accolades such as the 1st prize at the 5th Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition in New York, the 3rd prize at the 20th Ada Sari competition in Poland, the 3rd prize at the 11th Lyrical Competition Salvatore Licitra in Milano, and the 3rd prize at the 12th International Singing Competition IMMLING in Germany, 2nd prize at the Wilhelm Stenhammar competition in Sweden.
Additionally, Mun has sung Carmina Burana and Mozart's Coronation Mass at the Palermo Musica Festival, Pierrot Lunaire by A.Schönberg and the role of Annina in La Traviata under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung in Korea.
