Cecilia Lund Tomter is a Norwegian mezzo-soprano from Oslo. She was born into a family of musicians and after many years of following in her parents footsteps playing the violin, she discovered singing and the world of opera. She has since nurtured a passion for performance in operas, concerts and recitals. Most notably making her operatic debut at the Royal Opera of Copenhagen in John Fulljames’ highly acclaimed and award winning production of Die Walküre.
In 2023 she enrolled in the Royal Danish Theatres Young Artist Programme, where she has performed in several main stage productions. Most recently as Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro to great critical acclaim. Other roles include Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Zelatrice in Sour Angelica and Third Lady in Barry Koskys iconic Magic Flute production.
Cecilia started her studies with a bachelors degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music, during which she spent a year at MDW in Vienna studying under the tutelage of Claudia Visca. Her Masters of Opera she got from the Royal Danish Academy of Music where she studied with teachers like Anne Margrethe Dahl and Marianne Rørholm as well as the legendary voice pedagog Susanna Eken.
During her studies, Cecilia also worked in the Norwegian soloist choir, touring around the world and taking part in several CD-recordings.
The summer of 2024 Cecilia continued her path with Wagner and made her debut as Fricka in Das Rheingold in Bergen National Opera‘s Opera by the Fjord. For her performance she was awarded the Rieber talent-prize for young singers. Later the same summer Cecilia was one of only four chosen participants of the Bayreuth Festspiele Masterclass, this year lead by the legendary Waltraud Meier.
Cecilia also has a great interest for the lied-repertoire, and she has performed in chamber music festivals in Norway and abroad such as Fjord Classics, Oxford Chamber Music Festival and the Kirsten Flagstad Festival.
