Biography

Ian Marcus Bjørsvik (b. 2002) is a Norwegian tenor from Askøy, an island just outside of Bergen. He has already marked himself as one of Norway’s most promising young tenors and had his stage debut with Bergen National Opera as A hunter in Dvořáks Rusalka in March of 2023. He will also be making his debut at the Royal Danish Opera as Ein Offizier in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos in the 2023/24 season.
 
Bjørsvik was in 2021 awarded the prize Musician of the year in the National Youth Music Championship at The Norwegian Academy of Music and has since received multiple prices and grants in both Norway and Denmark. He is already an experienced concert singer and has, among other things, been soloist in Händel’s Messiah and Evangelist/Soloist in Bach´s Christmas Oratorio and St. Matthew Passion.
 
Bjørsvik is currently studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Tuva Semmingsen as teacher and will complete his Bachelor in the spring of 2024. In fall 2024 he will start his studies at The Royal Danish Opera Academy.
